  Chapter 1

  Honey

I may not be a huge pop star fan, but my best friend, Brittany, is, and that’s why we’re standing in a crush of people waiting to try to get the autograph of the one, the only, Michael Prayer.

Apparently, he’s big news in the world of music, but I’d much rather be reading a book than hoping to get his autograph. However, when your best friend of more than ten years begs you to go with her to meet him, you go.

At least, that’s what I did.

“Tell me again when he’s supposed to be coming out for autographs?” I ask her. I have to raise my voice to be heard since there’s so many people around us chattering and laughing excitedly.

Brittany turns to me, her eyes bright and her cheeks flushed. As much as I don’t really want to be here, she’s excited enough to change my attitude. She looks at her watch and bites her lower lip before answering.

“He’s supposed to be out here any moment,” she says, looking around her. Suddenly she gasps and points over my shoulder. “Look! I see him!”

I turn around with the crowd and look to see a skinny guy dressed in a heavy black leather jacket swaggering up to us. He has a smirk on his face, but nobody else seems to notice. Everyone around us is going wild screaming his name.

Even though he’s supposed to be the main attraction, I only notice him for a moment. It’s the mountain of a man behind him who I can’t stop staring it.

Of course Michael Prayer is going to have a bodyguard, but damn, I didn’t think that bodyguards looked this good in real life. He has on a tight white t-shirt that is stretched across his chest, perfectly showing off all of his muscles. His dark jeans fit snugly around his waist and legs.

I can feel my mouth watering as he walks closer, his eyes constantly scanning the crowd, looking for threats. He’s definitely more fun to look at than Michael Prayer.

Luckily, I feel like I can stare all I want without him noticing since there are so many people around me. I start chewing on my lower lip, wondering what it would be like to kiss him, to run my hands up his muscled sides, to maybe see what he has underneath his jeans.

  Oh, shit.

Just as I’m thinking about all of the dirty things I would do to the bodyguard, he looks directly at me. His eyes lock onto mine and grow dark, then he walks right up to me. Brittany isn’t paying attention – she’s too busy trying to get Michael’s autograph.

It’s then that I realize I know the bodyguard.

In fact, I know the bodyguard really, really well.

I lived next door to the bodyguard back in high school.

Of course, Damon Hale didn’t look like a sex god sent from heaven back then, because I would have noticed, and I would have definitely spent more time trying to get into his pants. He was a senior the year I was a freshman, and although we hung out at home, he wasn’t interested in being friends at school.

While he was hot back then, he was full-on code-red sexy as hell now.

Like he could make my clothes come off with a single look.

Like I’d be willing to drop down on my knees in the parking lot for him right here and now.

“Honey?” Oh, God, his voice is as deep and gravely as I would have thought. This is definitely a problem.

I feel panic rise in me.

I should not be having this reaction to this man.

My panties should not be getting wet at the sound of his voice.

I swore off dating a year ago after having my heart broken, but this man makes me want to throw my hat in the ring and risk it all.

“Hi, Damon,” I tell him, my voice barely a squeak. It’s a miracle that he can hear me over the crowd.

“Honey.” He nods and looks at Brittany. “She with you?”

“Yes,” I manage. It’s taking all of my self-control not to turn and run away. I want to throw myself at this hunk of a man, but I know that I’ll only end up getting hurt. It’s best to stop it before it begins.

He picks up his radio and says something into it, and then turns and whispers in Michael’s ear. They confer for a moment, then the hot bodyguard turns back to me.

“Michael has invited the two of you to come with us for private autographs.” Without waiting for my response, he reaches for my hand and helps me slide under the barricade. Brittany finally notices that something is going on and screams my name.

In response, Michael walks over and helps her under, as well. The crowd around us is screaming, all of them trying to grab him, but he ignores them, grips Brittany’s hand and starts walking away.

She turns around and mouths “oh, my God!” at me.

  She’s right.

  Oh. My. God.

Damon is still gripping my hand tightly. We start to follow Michael and Brittany, and to my surprise he doesn’t let go. He has an iron grip and it’s obvious that he has no intention of letting me get away.

  Damon

What I did was purely selfish, but right now I don’t care. As soon as I saw a curvy beauty standing by the barricade, and then realized that I knew her, it’s like a primal urge came over me. I had to pull Honey out of that crowd and have her for my own.

Michael won’t care who he spends time with as long as they worship the ground he walks on. Her friend looks right up his alley, but this curvy beauty is all mine.

I slow our pace as soon as we’re farther away from the crowd, glancing over at Honey. She’s shorter than I am, and younger looking than I remember, but it’s her curves that make my mouth water.

Unlike the other girls in the crowd who all have on Michael Prayer shirts, she has on a simple green tank top and jeans. The top may be simple, but it definitely has its work cut out for it – it’s stretched tight across her large breasts and is barely holding them back.

I’ve never picked a girl out of the crowd before, but I’ve also never seen a girl like Honey. She’s changed a lot since we were both in high school. Had she looked like this then, I would have worshipped the ground she walked on.

“It’s good to see you, Honey,” I tell her, slowing our pace even more.

She looks up at me and smiles and I feel a low tugging in my balls. God, this girl is gorgeous.

“I’m surprised that you could recognize me in the crowd.” She says.

I’m still holding her hand and am not about to let go now. We’re halfway across the parking lot, headed towards this night’s venue. The weather has turned a bit cool and I see that her nipples are straining against her tank top.

Good. I want to know that I have the same effect on her as she does on me.

“It wasn’t hard when you’re the most gorgeous girl standing there. You also were the only one not screaming and jumping up and down when you saw Michael. Besides, your friend looks like Michael’s
type,” I tell her, raising one eyebrow.

She turns to me and stops walking, pulling her hand out of mine.

“Sure,” she says, “but then why did you pull me out of the crowd? We barely knew each other in high school.”

She’s got me there. I’m speechless for a moment looking at this sexy curvy girl standing in front of me. I can’t very well tell her that I want to strip her out of her clothes and kiss every inch of her skin or that I want to take her home and bury myself in her, but that’s exactly what I want.

My cock starts to throb in my jeans, and I try to ignore it.

“You caught my eye.” It’s not a lie, even though it isn’t the whole truth.

It doesn’t tell her how I want to make her mine.

It also doesn’t tell her how far I’m willing to go to make sure that nobody else gets to touch her, ever. I picked Honey out of the crowd, which is something that I’ve never done before, and now I’ll be damned if I lose her. I didn’t pay her any attention back in high school, but that was all about to change.

She smiles and I feel the aching in my balls grow. God, how in the world does she have such an effect on me?

“Okay, Damon.” She pauses and licks her bottom lip. I have to control myself to keep from taking her face in my hands and tilting it up so that I can kiss her. “What’s the plan now?”

My plan is to have the sexy Honey fall in love with me so that I can marry her, but that’s probably not what she wants to hear right now.

“The plan?” Brittany and Michael have reached the building and disappeared from the parking lot. “It’s to make sure you have a great afternoon. And to make sure that I get to see you again, preferably tomorrow.”

She raises an eyebrow and slowly looks me up and down. “Okay.”

With that, she turns and starts walking to the building. I jog to catch up with her, slipping her hand into mine before she can complain. I’ve fallen hard for Honey and I’m going to do everything I can to make her mine.

  Chapter 2

  Honey

Brittany and Michael are playing with some of his instruments, each one trying to one-up the other with riffs and chords on the guitar. He’s a professional, but Brittany is really talented, and the two keep laughing and trying to show off.

I don’t even realize that I’m smiling while watching them until Damon says something.

“You look happy, Honey. Having a good time?”

I turn to him and my stomach drops. How the hell did I forget how sexy Damon is? He’s leaning back in the chair across from me, his tight chest on full display under his t-shirt. His thighs look like they’re pure muscle, and I wonder what it would be like to run my hands up them or to have them around me.

  I blush.

“Yeah, thanks for having us back,” I say, trying to sound normal, and not like I was just thinking about stripping him down and mounting him on the chair. “Do you often let fans come hang out?”

He blows out a breath before answering. “Michael love inviting fans to the back to hang out, but normally he’s more interested in sex. Your friend is quite the musician to keep him distracted.”

I glance over where Brittany is playing the guitar and singing, and I laugh. “Yeah, she’s not the kind of girl to just hook up with a stranger. Don’t get me wrong, she’s completely enamored with Michael, but playing around on an instrument with him is more her thing.”

“And what’s your thing? I have a feeling you didn’t come here because you wanted to meet a musician before his show tonight.” He sits up in his chair while he speaks, leaning forward and looking closely at me.

Oh, God. I hope he can’t see the flush that’s creeping across my chest. I uncross and cross my legs again, trying to ignore the pressure that’s building up down there. He should not be having this effect on me.

“Just call me moral support,” I tell him, smiling. “We’ve been friends for a long time, so when she wanted me to come with her, I agreed. I didn’t think that we’d end up getting special VIP treatment with the star and his bodyguard.”

“Okay, I get that,” he says, thinking. “But what’s your thing when you’re not being moral support for your friend? Damn, Honey, I haven’t seen you since high school and you have definitely grown up. I like it.”

I’m sure that he can see how hard I’m blushing now. I’m not the only one who grew up, and I’m hoping he hasn’t noticed me checking him out every time he turns away from me. In all of my daydreams growing up, it was Damon Hale who served to help me through my sexual awakening. He played a pivotal role in my growing up, and he has no idea.

He probably only remembers me as the awkward teenager who would try to look cool in front of his friends, come over to lose at video games, and who baked him cookies for his birthday each year. I cringe at the memory.

“I’m a first year teacher now. Middle school science,” I tell him, smiling. As much as teaching can wear on you from day to day, I really love my kids and getting to spend time with them. “And on the weekends I love to go hiking and to paint. I wish I studied art in college, but I was too interested in science to branch out, so I’m trying to teach myself. What about you? What do you do when you’re not…protecting a music star or in the gym?”

Damon grins at me and leans forward, resting his hand on my knee. It looks casual, but it doesn’t feel that way. His touch sends a bolt of energy straight up to between my legs, and it takes all of my self-control not to moan.

He was hot in high school, but this is different. I’m having a hard time concentrating.

“I bodyguard for Michael, but only when he’s in this area,” Damon says. “Other than that, I’ve grown out of video games, but I still love cookies. Do you still bake?”

He remembers the cookies. I always put so much time into making him something delicious for this birthday, but inevitably he had a girlfriend and always pooh-poohed my baking. His younger brother and sister, however, seemed to appreciate the work.

“I do,” I said slowly. “Do you remember that I used to bake for you in high school?”

He laughs, throwing his head back and squeezing my knee one more time before letting go. “Are you kidding? I loved your cookies! Sara and Mark always seemed to eat more of them than I did, though. And, of course, my parents were always thrilled when you would stop by.”

I hate to admit it, but praise is a sure-fire way to make me happy. I grin at him, feeling completely at ease. “Well, maybe you’d like to come over tomorrow and I’ll teach you how to bake. I still do it a lot, but I don’t have a cute neighbor to take them to anymore.”

The smile fades from his face.

Oh, shit, I’ve gone too far. Maybe he didn’t know that I had a huge crush on him in high school?

“But you don’t have to,” I backtrack, the words spilling out of my mouth. “I don’t want you to feel like you have to come over. I understand that it’s nice to reconnect, but there’s no reason to push it.”

I sound like an idiot and stop talking.

He’s still looking at me with a strange look on his face. I wish I could read it.

“I’d love to come bake with you,” he says, finally. “You’re as sweet as your name, Honey.”

The look on his face has changed from surprise to desire. At least, I think it’s desire. My cookies are good, but I’ve never had a man look at me like that when I offer to bake for him.

  What the hell’s going on?

  Damon

The show is almost over and I can’t stop thinking about Honey. I know that she and Brittany are somewhere in the front row among the screaming crowd, but I can’t see her, no matter how hard I look. As soon as Michael gets off the stage and I get him secured, I’m going looking for my girl.

The entire time that Honey was talking while Brittany and Michael were playin, I couldn’t help but think about what she was like in high school. She was cute back then, sure, but definitely not my type, and also too young for me to date. Now, though, she was
all woman. Her curves were delicious and addicting, and I couldn’t tear my eyes away from her.

After a while, she relaxed, and finally leaned back in her chair, stretched out and watching Michael and Brittany play guitar and sing together. Hell, maybe I found each of us our dream girl today.

“Don’t you guys have to get ready for the show soon?” She asked, sitting up and looking at her watch.

I moaned to myself. The last thing that I want is for her to leave. “Yeah, he’ll have to get ready to do his sound check in a bit and prepare to play. Are you two staying for the concert?”

She leaned forward, conspiratorially, and rested her hand on my leg. I’m wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to concentrate on what she had to say when she was touching me like that, but I swallowed hard and try.

“Actually, I don’t think that I could name a single song by him! And Brittany doesn’t have a ticket – they were all sold out. We charmed our way past security to get here for his autograph.” She grinned at me and bit her bottom lip.

After that couldn’t stop thinking about what it would be like to be the one biting her lip. I felt my cock stir in my pants, and I tried to ignore it, but it’s hard when I wanted to push her up against the wall and kiss her.

“Well, good news,” I whispered back. I was leaning forward, our faces just a few inches from each other. From there I could see how startling blue her eyes are. “I think that Michael will let Brittany in for free if she wants. And you can come too, if you want.”

She paused for a moment, and I thought that I’ve overstepped my bounds, but then she nodded. “Sure, if that means that I’ll get to see you after the show.”

I grinned at her. “You couldn’t keep me away from you, Honey.”

Finally, Michael plays the final chord on his encore and waves goodbye to the crowd, running off stage to me. His eyes are bright and he’s feeling good. He should – it was a great set and he really hit it off with Brittany today. I get him secured in the back and promise him that I’ll return with the girls.
